Give Me Kuroro or Give Me Death

(this has been in my queue for so long, I don’t remember the context)

We’re finally starting to unpack some of this …

We’re finally starting to unpack some of this shit with Jean still being alive after the Phoenix sacrificed herself on the moon, after months of Wolverine quietly angsting about it on his own, and punching people in the face over it. This artwork here, which shows a solemn, flannel wearing Wolverine humbly getting drenched in one of Storm’s downpours, reminds me of the classic scene where Wolverine and Jean Grey made their first real connection. Fitting. (Uncanny X-Men #239 – Dec 1988)

As far as significant plot developments go, no…

As far as significant plot developments go, not much happens in this comic. It’s just Mr. Sinister sitting around thinking about the X-Men like they are a boy band and he’s an infatuated 13 year old girl drawing hearts around all their names. And yet the characters are so magnetic and their relationships are so engaging, I am glued to these pages like that time I got gorilla glue on my fingers and then tried to get it off with toilet paper. Here Storm finally finds out that Jean is still alive, and she has an understandable freakout. I’m telling ya, there are going to be some god damned fireworks once the X-Men meet back up with X-Factor for the first time. (Uncanny X-Men #239 – Dec 1988)
